The year is almost over, but there’s still plenty of opportunities to spend some quality time with your favorite gal. Finding things to do with the kids during the colder months can be tricky. It’s not as easy as just heading to the beach or park. This is why this post is all about mother-daughter activities that are perfect for November and beyond, making the end of the year just as fun as the rest of the year!
Here are eight ways to hang out with your mini-me this month.
1. Get Crafty With Your Pumpkin!
Don’t get rid of your Halloween decorations just yet – there are plenty of things you can do with pumpkins after they’ve been carved for the big day. What was once a scary Halloween face could be totally transformed into an enchanting fairy house to put in the garden. Or, turn them into seasonal planters and fill them with your favorite in bloom flowers.
2. Sustainability Sessions
There’s no time like the present to teach your little ones about the environment. And we could all learn to be a little more sustainable. On November 15, it’s America Recycles Day, so it’s the perfect time to put some new routines into practice.
As part of it, why not hold a yard sale? One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, as they say, and the kids will learn a lot about money, charity and re-using their old stuff.
3. Little Acts Of Kindness
November 13th is World Kindness Day, so perhaps it’s time to team up and spread a little positivity. Whether you volunteer together, or simply bake a cake for dad, plan a random act of kindness together and you’ll no doubt feel closer at the end of it.
4. Plan A Holiday
While the weather is all doom and gloom, there’s always the option to let the imagination run wild. Together, plan your ideal holiday. Gather up some old newspapers and magazines, or print out pictures from the internet and create your own dream holiday mood board. Who knows, maybe you’ll be there next year!
5. Funky Hair Day
Doing each other’s hair is a great bonding experience for mum and daughter – especially if you let your mini-me loose on your usually so pristine hair! If she’s super young, be warned: It may take a few brushes to get all the mess out…
But, the activity is super fun and you can at least sport the look around the house. Head onto Pinterest to find some new tutorials to try on one another if you get stuck for ideas.
6. Stargazing
Step away from the technology, wrap up warm and lay out in the garden. This time of year is perfect for stargazing, as the skies are typically pretty clear at night. Then, head back inside for a cozy cup of cocoa and a bubble bath.
7. Mommy-Daughter Shopping Day
Fall and Winter call for a serious wardrobe upgrade. So, head to the shops together to find what treats you can scout out. Girls twirl dresses and jumpsuits are perfect for this time of year. Add a few to both of your wardrobes then head home for a fashion show for the rest of the family.
8. Create A New Tradition
There’s nothing like family traditions. So perhaps it’s time to make a new tradition with your little girl. Whether it’s reading together before bed, heading out for desert once a month or having a mommy-daughter date from time to time, it’s important to make all your children feel just as special as each other.
