Well, all of us share a common dream of going on vacation, period. There is no need to even specify the place because lately because of pandemic and stretched deadlines, the workload has immensely increased in almost all sections of society. However, we’ll save you the rant for later and come straight to the point. Australia is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Partly because it’s surrounded by water. One such city in Australia is Melbourne. Melbourne is well known for its panoramic views of the ocean and buildings that stretch to the sky. Apart from that, Melbourne is also really popular in the region for their extremely well-maintained and high-quality hospitality. The hotels there are pretty fancy if you want them to be. You can check for some of the best hotel booking apps and get the desired hotels. This can make your travel plans really expensive and limits the number of activities you can perform in the city. This is why we are going to talk about five hostels that will help you save some money on your accommodation. So without further ado, let’s jump right in:-\
1. Barkly Backpackers
If you’re looking for a cheaper place to stay in the city that is not going to break your back or your wallet, then Barkly backpackers is the palace to pack your bags. This is because apart from the already low price tag on the room, you get free amenities like free breakfast, coffee, etc. however, Barkly backpacker is well known for their welcoming staff and their social ambiance. This place is definitely not for the party animals amongst the people who are reading this, but for people who are looking for a social yet quiet place to stay in. Barkly backpacker is just 5 minutes away from the beach and hence is situated in quite the perfect location. The rooms are spacious and there are designated lockers for you to keep your belongings in. even though the rooms are not humongous, the light coming in from the huge windows makes it appear so. If you’re looking for a good hostel near St. Kilda, then this is the place that we’d recommend.
2. Finders Backpackers
The next best hostel in Melbourne is the finders backpackers. This place has the ambiance and the amenities that you would need from a hostel. If you’re not the kind of guy that would fit in the first type of hostel we mentioned, then finders backpackers is the palace that we’d recommend you to check out. Apart from being a very social and hip place, finders backpackers is a great place to rest and watch the sunset from. Even though we recommend bringing earplugs into your dorms if you’re on the lower floors, the place is quite well equipped to give you a good night’s rest. If you’re looking for more privacy but don’t want to break your bank, then they also offer private rooms that are relatively smaller. They have a huge common room where you can play games and socialize with people in the hostel. Also, there is free breakfast, which is a great option to have. They also let you use their industrial kitchen to make whatever you want, given you have already arranged the equipment. On weekends they offer a special Australian cocktail, so expect things to get lively. Also, their weekly dinners are a great place to socialize as well as save some money. Overall finders backpackers is a great place to stay if you’re looking for hostels.
3. Base St Kilda
If you’re looking for a hostel near st Kilda and you find Barkly backpackers full, then there is another one for you. Base St Kilda is one of the party hostels that people looking for calm should stay away from. They often host foam parties and karaokes, because of which things are most likely to get lively in here. If you want a good night’s sleep, we would recommend you to take a dorm on the top floor, which is practically the farthest from the action. However, if you’re a social animal, then the base is quite literally for you. Amenities include free pancake breakfast and common room activities. Their dorm beds start at around 28 AUD per night. Which is fairly cheap for Melbourne.
4. Tramstop 14 Backpackers
Tramstop 14 backpackers is one of the coziest places to stay in town, especially if you’re here for longer than a week. Tramstop 14 backpackers are great if you’re looking for a comfy home vibe. They also offer free breakfast and some activities in the common room. Speaking of which the common room has a large tv with NetFlix on it, so if you’re not feeling like going out during the day, you can definitely sit here and watch Netflix during the day. If you want to get a good night’s sleep then this place is perfectly quiet for you to sleep. Overall, tramstop 14 is one of the smallest yet best hostels in the city. Also because of the location, it is close to a majority of the attractions.
5. The Nunnery
Unlike most of the hostels in the city, the nunnery has a history. The nunnery was actually active in the 1880s. However, if you’re fantasizing about horror movie pilots, then calm your horses. The nunnery is a great hostel to stay in because of the ambiance and the quality of the place. Even though you’re paying just 26 AUD per night, you won’t feel anything less than luxury hospitality. Like most hostels in the city, they also offer free breakfast and the location is really close to the Melbourne museum and also very close to the city center.
Conclusion
If you want to save money on accommodation while you’re in Melbourne, then we highly recommend you to check the hostels we have mentioned. You must carry foldable bed frame with you to help you out if you do not find any suitable accommodation. All of these are quite cheap if you opt for a dorm bed but also have a private room option as well. Even though the amenities are quite similar, choose your favorites among the ones on the list by looking at the ambiance of the place. Till then, keep scrolling and spread the word.
