Spring cleaning—it’s tiring, it’s hard, it’s overly complicated. But, did you know that spring cleaning can actually be fun?  What if it doesn’t have to be done in spring exactly?

Some would actually decide to do it mid-winter just so their spring will be hassle-free. But, because it’s a new year for mankind, maybe it’s time to change the way you look at spring cleaning.

Why Should You Spring Clean?

To spring clean is to declutter your house of junk and throw out anything that might be gathering dust anywhere. If it’s something that hasn’t been used and unopened in a couple of months or a year (or years, even), it’s a prime candidate of being among the items to be cleaned out.

Getting rid of your junk is difficult and rubbish removal services, like the dirtcheaprubbishremoval.com.au site, will definitely be needed for those extra hefty loads of unused chinaware or your aged collection of knickknacks.

If you’re looking to fix up your home for the new year, start with the list below!

1. Play Energetic Music While You Clean

Start this session right!  Take your favorite playlist of high-energy music and put them on full blast while you clean. Not only will this take the stress off of cleaning every nook and cranny, but it’ll make you want to dance to the music, too!

2. Declutter Everything (Yes, Everything)

Take excess things out from cabinets, shelves, closets, under the sink, your dishwasher, and anywhere else you might have overlooked. Oftentimes, people who spring clean would overlook this crucial step and hoard their junk rather than get rid of it.

If there’s something you haven’t used in eons, it’s time to think about giving it away. You can always earn a bit of extra from this by putting up a garage sale.

3. Use Vinegar And Warm Water For Window Cleaning

Take vinegar and warm water in a 1:1 ratio and use this to scrub off stubborn stains off of your windows. You’ll definitely make them look like they’ve been recently installed. If you don’t want to make your sponge smell like vinegar, don’t fret; this is the perfect time to use old newspaper as your rags.

4. Use Virgin Coconut Oil For Leather Upholstery

Leather upholstery’s difficult to clean and leather conditioner is at a pretty steep price these days. Instead, take a dry microfiber rag and pour some virgin coconut oil on it. Give anything leather a nice wipe and it’ll be just as though you’ve used leather conditioner. Not only will this be a cheaper alternative, but it’d smell great, too.

5. Remove Water Stains From Wood Furniture Using A Blow Dryer

You might have those annoying coaster or glassware stains on your wooden furniture. You can actually get rid of these by blowing them off with a blow dryer set at its highest setting. Direct the heat onto the stain until it disappears. To re-condition the wood, take some olive oil and polish that wood until it looks brand new.

6. Shine Your Appliances DIY-Style

First, make sure your appliances are free of crumbs. Then, take some salt, baking soda, vinegar, and rubbing alcohol. Mix the salt, vinegar, and baking soda in a 1:3:1 ratio until it’s a paste. Slather the paste onto your appliance, especially where stubborn stains are, and leave it for an hour or overnight, then scrape it off with a spoon. Finish it off by wiping it down with rubbing alcohol.

CAUTION: Do not use rubbing alcohol on burners or anything that emits fire. Rubbing alcohol is flammable. You’re trying to clean your house, not burn it down!

Keep It Fun

Remember, just because spring cleaning is a chore doesn’t mean it doesn’t have to be fun. The moment you start with the music and get down to it, you won’t realize how quickly time flies. If you live alone, get help from friends or family, and they can have a blast, too. With enough help and enough cleaning done, your house will be much easier to maintain for the year. As they say, time flies while you’re cleaning… or were you actually having fun?
